Procrastination can destroy your dreams, before you know it time has passed you by and all of those hopes, dreams and goals have fallen by the wayside. When that happens it is easy to regret what has happened, to blame yourself and others for the lack of progress or achievement.
The thing with procrastination is that it grabs you tightly with both hands and holds on without you even realising it. It holds you back and before you know it days, weeks and months pass you by as have many opportunities that came your way and it is too late to follow up.
How much has procrastination cost your or your business? I am not just talking about money. I am talking about opportunites that you have not taken up, relationships that have fallen by the wayside, people who you know have moved on to more attentive friends or partners.
It will happen again and again until you learn how to deal with procrastination. You need to understand how it takes a grip and how you cann cast it aside, ready to change, motivated and excited about new opportunities.
What will you no longer accept in your life? Are you ready to change? Are you committed to change?
What will you do? You can stay where you are right now or learn how to motivate and excel yourself for a bigger brighter future.

The key resource for a leader is people. This means that if we are to assess leaders we should only use a single measure. And that is the understanding of the science of human behavior and applying these principles to their workplace. One of the most vital indicators of positive leadership is the percentage of individuals who volunteer to use their discretionary effort. This is the effort that people put into their job because they choose to do it and typically, we would call it going above and beyond the call of duty.
This discretionary behavior is always the result of positive reinforcement and never seems to exist under punishment. It seems that when the person receives positive reinforcement even if it is a personal benefit, their behavior can be consistent and long-lasting. On the other hand, when there is negative reinforcement, the person may deliver extra effort but without the same consistency and duration. The threat of negative reinforcement causes the discretionary behavior to diminish to a level of mere compliance. Whilst both types of reinforcement can produce discretionary effort, only positive reinforcement will give the sustained consistency and duration that is of value to the organization.
The very best leaders understand this situation and ensure that they contribute and deliver positive reinforcement which is certain and immediate to their direct reports. Creating a discretionary behavior can be difficult in a hierarchical structure because the leader may have to work through several layers of management. Each layer creates its own challenges because each manager will filter information that is to be passed on to subordinates. The canny leader can circumvent this problem by, with the permission of the manager, passing on positive reinforcement directly to the people concerned. This can be done in concert with the manager and becomes a powerful force in delivering positive reinforcement when this is applied this way.
The first and foremost challenge for the leader is to create an environment that encourages discretionary behavior from his or her managers. Then of course, the second challenge is to gain the managers’ cooperation in delivering positive reinforcement to obtain the same discretionary behavior from their staff.
Whilst this might sound to be quite simplistic, it is, in fact, quite a difficult process. First of all, we have to ensure that all leaders and all managers have a good practical working understanding of human behavior. This is the step which is omitted frequently. Understanding human behavior is the most important tool of the leader and manager and therefore should receive the same or greater level of importance as finance.

Values and beliefs are very deep structures and even intensive methods [such as brainwashing] can be insufficient to irreversibly change them. ~David Straker, Changing Minds – In Detail.
Seeking to change people against the flow of themselves is fraught with danger, relationally. So, then, why do we even try to do that, husband, wife, employee, manager or pastor?
These deep-seated structures–values and beliefs–are core to the people in our midst and they seem to hold them for their whole lifetimes. So, how do we work with these people in the ‘world of influence’ i.e. when we have a role to influence others for their and our own good; for the “team” goal?
The answer, I think, is to go against the whole matter of trying to influence. Our success depends mostly on the trust we have with people; how much they respect us, and us them. When we achieve these interpersonal results of positive rapport, and these people know our goals–as we seek to create influence, they will tend to want to align. We create alliances beyond the goals at hand; the bonds are stronger than the task within reach.
Changing minds comes notionally as a result of perhaps seeking the opposite–a totally rampant acceptance of peoples’ precious individualised viewpoints. How is it that we can achieve such an entwined purpose when we’re not seeking the goal itself? Perhaps it gives some credence to the fact that everyone’s values and belief systems inherently reinforce this one thing:
Everyone wants to be treated authentically, with respect and devoid of another person’s agenda. Everyone wants others to achieve their innate opinions. Everyone genuinely requires acceptance to truly thrive–in any situation, and yet this acceptance is quite simply the easiest thing to give. We only have to think passionately of the other person. But how many struggle to get beyond their own needs?
As a leader or a person of influence, surely it is others we’re in it for. Unfortunately, however, this is not always the case, and this is when we will get it all wrong. Achieving results against the grain is not only not enjoyable, it simply doesn’t work–not with sustainability in the long run.
We must start to trust people’s base values and beliefs without casting aspersions (either positive or negative) and seek to not change them. Other people’s values and beliefs are so very “them” they have nothing to do with us. Even if they did, we couldn’t change them. We can only accept this.

“What would you do if you knew you could not fail?”
Many people I meet have been held back in their lives for fear of failure, so much so that they have stopped themselves from pursuing their dreams and goals.
Today just take fa few minutes to ask yourself what you wold do if you knew you could not fail, and ask yourself if today is a good day to take just 1 step towards pursuing that goal your have been dreaming of and making it a reality.
If today is not the right day to start taking action, then when would be a great time to start?

With so many small businesses failing to survive the first year why should a coaching practice or consultancy be any different? Few businesses survive the first year and coaching practices are no different, with hundreds if not thousands of coaches qualifying each month is there really a demand for their services?
Where many coaches fail is through a lack of understanding on how to effectively market their practice. Too many new coaches spend vast amounts of time getting their business branding just right, creating a polished website, ordering smart business cards they dont want to part with. But is that what your clients care about? I would say not, you clients want to know if you deliver results and if you are worth what they will be paying.
Let prospects know what services you offer, how you will work with them and what results they can expect. Oh, and if you dont have a business coach, get one. Your coaching clients will expect you to walk your talk!!!

Not everyone has huge levels of confidence and many of us do know the importance of it or how to change it. Confidence coaching helps you build your levels of personal or professional confidence and can positively impact on your wellbeing. When confident you are able to deal more effectively and positively in situations like communicating with colleagues or family members, presenting yourself to others professionally and relating to your partner.
To improve your confidence and self esteem here are my top tips:
start by avoiding negative thoughts and situations that make you unhappy,
act as if you are already confident even when you are not
be proud of who you are
treat yourself with respect and expect it from others
focus on your strengths and not what you consider to be your weaknesses,
recognise the source of any issues you are experiencing and try not to give them greater importance than they warrant
look for ways to achieve what you want and take action.
Coaching can help you to increase your confidence levels and build your self esteem in various aspects of your personal and professional life.

Personal coaching over the telephone can aid greater openness between the coach and the coachee. When engaging in face-to-face personal coaching there are certain situations which may influence or distract parties during the session. This is not the case for all clients but many people feel more at ease and able to communicate openly when they are involved in personal coaching over the telephone as they do not see one another thus bringing openess to the coaching session.
In a face-to-face personal coaching sessions some of the distracting factors can include visual things like what the coach is wearing or how they are sitting, the look and style of the room and the general enviroment, the ambience and sounds can make a difference, as can the temperature and some clients may feel uncomfortable talking about very personal situations that have impacted on their lives when sitting in the presence of another. Face-to-face personal coaching requires a level of trust to be altogether effective. Without trust, the client may not feel sufficiently capable to dislcose the thoughts and experiences their coach needs to know to fully understand the situation being discussed.
The great thing about telephone based personal coaching is that my clients can sit in the comfort of their own homes, office or another place where they feel best placed to open up and say what they want to. My clients may touch on several aspects of their lives when coming for personal coaching or business coaching and how their past relates to their current decisions may bring in in factors which are emotional for them to communicate.
In such cases I definately recommend telephone based personal coaching sessions, especially for relationship coaching, confidence & self esteem coaching, and wellbeing coaching.
Much also depends on the depth of emotions the client experiences, whether they prefer to be face to face with their coach or not, and how they prefer with communicate to others. Both telephone coaching and face-to-face coaching can work, it really is down to how the coach and coachee choose to proceed.
